In order to average the distribution of the labor for picking Satsuma mandarin, the delayed harvesting after maturity was investigated. The trees used in this experiment were cultivar Hayashi of 8 year old. Each trees were covered with straw-mat, plastic film tape cloth or cheese cloth in December before the fruit received cold injury. In addition to the coverings, half of trees were sprayed with greener, a transpiration inhibiting agent. At the middle of March it was found that all fruits reduced the diameter as the picking delayed, but greener decreased the loss to some extent. The sugar contents in the juice increased a little and acid contents decreased as the picking delayed, but there were no differences among the treatments. the coverings remarkably prevented bird injury, but the rate of healthy fruit decreased as picking delayed due to transpiration and cold injury. As the result of this experiment the covering of cheese cloth with the combination of greener spray was most promising for the delayed harvesting.

温州ミカンの収穫作業の労力の分散化をはかるため, 1975年12月中旬?1976年3月中旬の間, 8年生林温州を用いて, 越年採収実用性を検討した. 樹上越年果はいずれの防寒資材(白カンレイシヤ, 黒カンレイシヤ, タフロックス, ワラコモ)で被覆した場合も, 採収時期の遅いほど果実が縮小したが, 蒸散抑制剤(グリンナー)を散布して被覆した場合にはその縮小が少なかった. 被覆した樹上越年果と無被覆の樹上越年果の果汁の糖および酸含量には差が認められなかった. 防寒資材で被覆した場合には, 鳥害果はいちじるしく少ないが, 採収時期の遅くなる程果面蒸散や低温障害などのために, 健全果率が減少した. 実用の点では, 蒸散抑制剤の散布+カンレイシヤの被覆が有望であった.
