Description

The objective of this study was to elucidate the effect of the fluctuating natural light on the crop growh. The fluctuating light which had periodic high and low intencities, was gained in applying rotation to a shelter above the crops. Three plots of different conditions were prepared, i. e., the shelter was rotated at a high rate of speed (300, 400 r. p. m. ), at a low rate of speed (120, 230 r. p. m. ), and no shelter (no treatment plot). The experiments were made in two cases; the one was treated in the daytime (Experiment 1), another was above the set light intensities (Experiment 2), and these were performed from November 27, 1974 to January 16, 1975. At Experiment 1 spinach (Spinacia oleracea L. ) was cultured two times, and at Experiment 2 that also two times, but in which spinach and Swiss chard (Beta vulgaris L. var. cicra L. ) were cultured respectively. The following results were obtained. Spinach growth in both the treated plots were not on a level with the one in the no treatment plot, through Experiment 1and Experiment 2. However, the growth in the high-speed treated plot were superior to the one in the low-speed. At Swiss chard cultivation, the growth in the low-speed treated plot were the most, and followed by that of the no treatment plot, the high-speed treated plot respectively. The top dry weight in the low-speed treated plot, accounted for about 47% increase comparing to that of the no treatment plot, those treated during 50 days. It is considered that the effects of fluctuating light on the crop as described above, will be made clear, if such study performed basically.

作物の増収の可能性を追求するために, 自然光を周期的に強弱に変動させ, それが作物におよぼす影響をみた. 光の強弱への変動は, シェルターを作物上で回転させることによった. そして, 光変動周期の短い高速回転処理区(300, 400r. P. m. ), 周期の長い低速回転処理区(120, 230r. p. m. ), それと対照区としての無処理区の計3区を設けた. 実験は, 光変動処理を連日, 日中に処理した場合(第1実験)と, 設定光強度以上で処理した場合(第2実験)とについて, 1974年11月27日から1975年1月16日にかけて行なった. 第1実験では, 2回の栽培試験を行ない, 供試作物はどららもオウレンソウ(Spinacia oleracea L.)を用いた. 第2実験でも, 2回の栽培実験を行なったが, 供試作物としてそれぞれホウレンソウ, フダンソウ(Beta vulgaris L. var. cicla L.)を用いた. ホウレンソウでの結果は, 第1実験と第2実験ともに, 処理区はいずれも無処理区より生育不良となったが, 高速回転処理区は, 低速回転処理区より優る傾向であった. フダンソウでは, 低速回転処理区が最も生育が良く, 無処理区, 高速回転処理区が後につづいた. 処理後50日の地上部乾物重では, 低速回転処理区は無処理区の47%増となった. 以上のことから, さらに基本的データ-を集質させることにより, 作物に対する変動光効果が, より明確になるものと考えられた.
