Description

Acetate-assimilating organisms were isolated from soil samples by an enrichment culture technique. Each organism was cultured in a medium supplemented with Na-acetate as a carbon source in concentrations of 0.25-8.0%. μmax of yeast strains A 601, A 1603 and A 4404 were calculated to be 0.25, 0.39 and 0.23 hr-1, respectively. A Gram-positive rod, A 2904 assimilated 8.0% acetate and the maximal growth was obtained in 4.0% acetate ; growth of cell was 8.9 based on absorbance at 600 nm. μmax of this bacterium was 0.22 hr-1. Continuous cultures of A 4404 and A 2904 were examined using a chemostat.

酢酸資化性酵母および細菌を土壌中より分離した. 無包子酵母と考えられる菌株A601, A1603, およびA4404の最大増殖速度係数μmaxはフラスコ培養において, それぞれ0.25, 0.39, および0.23hr-1となった. グラム陽性桿菌A2904は酢酸ナトリウム8%まで生育を示し, μmaxは0.22hr-1であり, 2日間培養で生育度8.9(吸光度)に達した. 連続培養条件においてはA4404ではμmaxは0.14hr-1, 収量係数は0.078(平均)となり、A2904ではμmaxは0.36hr-1, 収量係数は0.325(平均)となった.
