Description

Relation between leaf area and fruit growth was studied in early maturing culture of single stem training Cucurbita maxima Duch. cv. Ebisu by controlling artificially leaf area and fruits. There were positive correlations between leaf number and fruit weight (r=+0.867) and between leaf area and fruit weight (r=+0.986) : linear regression (y=1.195x-0.818). On plants leaves were taken off, fruit growth was worse at 10 or 14 days after anthesis. Correlation between position of leaf and fruit weight was not recognized. The fruit weight per 100? leaf area decreased as the leaf number increased. It was shown that the production of 1.5kg fruit required about 1㎡ leaf area. Provided that the leaf area and leaf number are 1.2㎡ and 25 per fruit, respectively, fruit growth is promoted by the pinching of the tip of vine. In this experiment the relation among fruit weight, thickness of pericarp, dry matter content and sugar content by Brix scale became clear.

洋種カボチャ, 品種えびす南瓜を用い, 1本仕立, 1?2果結実, 葉数を5?25枚に制限して, 露地早熟栽培における葉面積と果実の発育との関係を調査した. 葉数と果重との相関はr=+0.867で, 葉数の少ない区では開花10又は14日後から果実発育の低下がみられた. 葉面積と果重ではr=+0.986と極めて高い相関を示し, 直線回帰y=1.195x-0.818が計算された. この場合葉面積が同じであれば着葉位置の影響は認められなかった. また葉数が多くなる程, 葉面積100?当り果重は減少した. この栽培において1.5kgの果実を得るためには葉面積1㎡が必要で, 1果当り葉数25, 葉面積1.2㎡あれば, つる先を摘心した方が果実の発育は良かった. 果実重量と果肉の厚さ, 果肉乾物率, 糖度(Brix)の関係は明らかであった.
